Success in life begins with a quality education. And yet, millions of children and youth lack the support they need to strengthen their literacy, stay on track in school, graduate high school and find a career.
We’re fighting to shift the odds so tomorrow’s leaders can build a better foundation today. With an approach to education that spans from cradle to career, we’re ensuring every child gets a strong start in life, teenagers have the tools to learn and grow, and young adults thrive in the job market.
The average college graduate earns over $36,000 more per year than someone who drops out from high school, and is half as likely to end up in poverty. That’s why United Way partners with organizations like America’s Promise Alliance to improve high school graduation rates. In 2012, the average national high school graduation rate across the U.S. climbed to 81 percent, the highest level ever recorded.
Our interactive Common Good Forecaster allows you to see how improving the high school graduation rate benefits the economy and overall health of your community.
