SJUW Recognized for Efforts Following Hurricane Isaac

St. John United Way was recognized at the annual meeting of the American Red Cross Southeast Louisiana on June 19, 2013, for its contributions and community partnership following Hurricane Isaac.

SJUW provided a $15,000 emergency contribution to the Red Cross in September 2012 to assist with funding emergency services mobilized in St. John Parish after the storm.  These services included a shelter at the St. John Community Center, food, water and supplies distributed to those in need.

Additionally, Red Cross assisted SJUW as it led the development of the St. John the Baptist Long Term Recovery Group.  To date, the SJBP LTRG has completed over 900 projects utilizing the help of over 1250 volunteers.
