St. John United Way COVID-19 Relief Fund

St. John United Way COVID-19 Relief Fund

St. John United Way has established a COVID-19 Relief Fund to aid the residents of St. John the Baptist Parish. The fund will be used to assist in the recovery from the pandemic's impact to our community. The dollars raised will be used to support funding for COVID-19 expenses for the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) population who have been greatly impacted by business closures during this time. With income above the Federal Poverty Level, ALICE households earn too much to qualify as “poor” but are still unable to cover the basics of housing, child care, food, transportation, health care, taxes, and cellphone in the parishes where they live. 50% of households in St. John Parish are below the ALICE household survival budget spending threshold and are struggling to afford the basics. The number of ALICE households have grown even higher than 50% during the COVID-19 pandemic. ALICE people work hard, sometimes having multiple jobs, just to try to pay the bills.

Again, this fund is being established to support COVID-19 needs in our parish. This fund will evolve as the needs in our community evolve. We will NOT take any administrative costs off the top of these donations. Thanks to Nalco an Ecolab Company who kicked off this fund by donating the first $42,500. St. John United Way has committed to fund $500 grants to ALICE families and Food Distribution events as funds are raised. To donate, please visit: https://www.stjohnunitedway.org/covid-19-relief-fund
